Ashton

"There are 18 groups of 5 in my pattern"  Ashton found this multiplication fact very difficult to solve.  He was able to design this complex algebra pattern effectively.

Ashton is able to read most times on analogue and digital clocks.  He can identify am and pm and is also beginning to understand 24 hour time.  He was able to draw a simple clock putting the numbers that were applicable to his time (20 to 5) in the correct place.  He is able to solve some problems involving exact time and it is important that he continue to be challenged with questions of this nature.

Neela, Preston, Jayden and Ashton worked extremely well together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  They made 2 statements each and supported each other to add detail to these.  To finish they confidently made a computer graph.

Ashton was able to make this 3D polyhedron.  He could confidently count how many faces and corners (vertices) his shape had.  He is learning how to calculate how many edges and angles that 3D shapes have.

Ben and Ashton worked alongside each other to complete these amazing tessellating bird patterns and symmetrical designs.  They both really enjoyed designing their geometrical designs and wanted to do more.  They both found them easy to do.  Great  geometrical work Ashton and Ben!

Bre and Ashton made this 3D geometrical city model.  Bre firstly made a 2D plan.  The were able to build a range of different 3D shapes (cylinders, pyramids, rectangular prisms etc) and include some simple tessellation, symmetry and shop signage.  They worked extremely well together with very little teacher input.  Bre started the project because Ashton was on holiday and then Ashton joined Bre.  It was great to see them work so well, especially because Ashton has joined the project a little later on.  Well done!

Power-point presentation:  Ben W and Ashton worked together on a project!  They had to research a life safety topic and they chose drugs or medicine.  They worked hard to gather their ideas and they made a plan.  After they planned they began work on their power-point presentation.  They done a great job working together to create their power-point.  They presented their findings to the class.  Great work boys....

5/7/16 Speech:  Here is a video of Ashton's speech about Reptiles.
