Jessica

Jessica was able to identify that she started with 8 stickers and then added 7 for each pattern.  When I asked her how many stickers she has altogether she started to say "8 + 7 + 7 - repeated addition" but I stopped her and asked her to try it another way.  She then said "OK, I will used multiplication - 7 groups of 5 = 35 and then add the first group of 8... the amount of stickers is 43".

Jessica can read most times on analogue and digital clocks.  Sometimes she forgets to make the times easier and will say 55 minutes past 8 instead of 5 to 9.  She can draw a simple clock and knows that there is 5 minute intervals in between numbers.  Jessica is beginning to solve problems involving exact time, she can do this using a number line.  It is important that she continue to be given questions of this nature.

Jodi, Keira, Jessica and Chonelle worked together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  To finish they made a very good computer graph.

Jessica was able to confidently make this 3D polyhedron.  She also could identify how many faces, edges, vertices (corners) and angles.  Well done Jessica.

Jessica enjoyed the geometric activity.  She found it quite easy as you can be by her extensive designs.  Her tessellating shape looks effective and she worked out how to lock her shapes together.  Her symmetrical design is very good quality.  Great vision Jessica.

Jessica and Chonelle made this dog safety power-point together.  They researched their topic and worked well together to present their research to the class.  They are becoming better at speaking in front of an audience.  Well done girls...

Jessica and Chonelle worked extremely hard on their geometrical city.  As you can see they put alot of effort into their creation.  They firstly designed a 2D model and then went on to create this 3D model.  They were able to include and make all the required shapes and designs that they needed to, in order to complete the activity.  The worked well together, which is an important skill!  Well done girls, your work looks terrific.

Here is Jessica's speech about BIG cats that she presented in July 2016
