Keira

Keira stated that she started off with 5 stickers in her pattern and then she added 3 for each new row.  She specified that to work out how many stickers she would go 5x1 for the first group which is 5, then 3x11 for the next 11 groups of the patter.  She easily solved these two multiplication problems and then joined them together 33 plus 5 (38) at the end.

Jodi, Keira, Jessica and Chonelle worked together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  To finish they made a very good computer graph.

Keira is able to tell the time on analogue clocks.  She seems to understand digital time and understands am and pm within this context.  She was able to draw a clock and correctly.  Keira is able to solve problems involving exact time and showed how she did this using a number line.  She confidently talked about what she was doing.

Keira and Jodi worked together to successfully build 2 different 3D polyhedrons.  They were able to identify how many angles, vertices (corners), edges and faces each of their shapes had.  Great geometry work!

Keira found this geometrical activity very easy. She was able to complete her beautiful tessellating animal pattern effectively.  You can see by her symmetrical pattern that she enjoyed this.  Clever mathematics Keira.

Keira and Jodi worked well together to make an Earthquake and Tsunami power-point.  They researched their topic, made a plan and then went on to devise their power-point.  They presented it well to the class.  Great job girls!

Keira and Matt worked together to construct this geometrical city.  They worked well together.  Matt made the 2D plan (Keira was away) and then they built this 3D city with all of the components they were required to, i.e. cylinders, pyramids, 2D shapes, tessellation and a symmetrical design.  Congratulations, this is great work.
