Tegan

Here is Tegan making a square 'pathway' pattern.  She is able to calculate how many sticks and squares make up the pattern for smaller counts of squares.
Tegan was able to identify that the first shape had 4 stickers and that every other shape adds 3 each time  She pointed out the shape and how when you add 3 on, it still is a shape of 4 with one sticker from the previous shape.  Tegan found making the sticker pattern quite difficult and required support to do this.

Tegan finds it difficult to read times that are more sophisticated than oclock or half past times so it is important that she be given opportunities throughout the day to read time.  When asked to draw a clock to opted for a digital one because she found it difficult to draw an analogue one, but it is important that she understand how analogue clocks look.  She seems to have a basic understanding of how am and pm work but not in relation to 24 hour time.  Tegan must continue to work on time and time related mathematical problems.

Tegan, Pyper, Hollie and Tankia worked together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  To finish they made a computer graph.  (Tanika was absent for most of this learning).  This group found it challenging to work together on this task but eventually started to compromise with one another and share out tasks.

Tegan was able to build this 3D polyhedron.  She could count how many faces that her shape had.  With support she was able to count the vertices (corners) but struggled to calculate how many angles and edges her shape had.  Keep working on your geometry Tegan.

Tegan required a bit of support when making her symmetrical pattern (top) and her tessellating animals.  Once she had the idea of what to do she managed to complete this activity on her own.

Beach Safety Power-point
Tegan and Pyper made a beach safety power-point.  The tried to make it several times and kept losing the file.  Eventually they managed to get the job done.  Their slide show presentation was a little vague and they could have included more safety information but they were rushed because of their technology difficulties.  Keep trying to create digital presentations girls!

Tegan and Nicole made this 3D geometrical city model.  They firstly made a 2D plan.  The were able to build a range of different 3D shapes (cylinders, pyramids, rectangular prisms etc) and include some simple tessellation, symmetry and shop signage.  They worked extremely well together to complete this task.  They did an amazing job!

5/7/16  Speech:  Here is Tegan presenting her speech about cats.
