Leah

Leah is able to read simple analogue clock times.  She can read some digital times but is unsure if they are am or pm.  She can draw a simple clock with the minute hand, hour hand and numbers in the correct position.  She is working on being able to solve problems involving exact time or how much time has passed and will need to keep working on this type of learning.
"My pattern starts with 4 and then it adds 3 stickers for each consecutive one.  12x3 =27 plus 4 is 31".  (Incorrect basic fact).  Leah found this pattern easy to build and achieved it independently.
Here is Leah making a triangle 'pathway pattern'.  She is able to calculate how many sticks and triangles make up the pattern for smaller numbers of triangles.

Talia, Bre, Leah and Julia worked together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  To finish they made a computer graph.  This group found it a bit challenging to work together at times but eventually started to compromise with one another and share out tasks.

Leah successfully made this 3D shape.  She was able to count up how many faces, edges and vertices (corners) her shape had.  She learnt how to count up how many angles there were in her shape but will require more work on this.

Leah was able to complete this amazing symmetrical pattern on her own.  As you can see she made quite a sophisticated design.  She enjoyed doing this.  She found the tessellating shape a bit more difficult to cut out and put together but ended up making a bird shape.  Great geometrical work Leah.

Leah and Tanika made this 3D geometrical city model.  They firstly made a 2D plan.  The were able to build a range of different 3D shapes (cylinders, pyramids, rectangular prisms etc) and include some simple tessellation, symmetry and shop signage.  They worked extremely well together to complete this task and their city is completely different to everybody else!  They did an amazing job!  Well done girls!

Powerpoint presentation:  Neela and Leah worked together to make a power-point about fire safety.  The researched their topic, made a plan and then went on to design and present their information to the class.  They worked together very well.  They are learning to present their findings to the class through presentation.  Well done girls.

30/6/16  Leah wrote her own speech about 'Happy to Help'.  Here is a small clip of her speech.
