Nicole

"To work out how many stickers there are I would add up 5+5+5+5 and then add a 6 at the end for the last square".  Nicole copied this simple square pattern off model and was unable to think up her own design.

Nicole is still learning to tell the time to oclock and half times.  She finds it difficult to decipher which hand is pointing where and will often get her times confused because of this.  She is able to draw a clock and put the numbers in the correct position.  She is learning that there is 5 minutes in between the numbers.  Nicole is working to solve time problems.  With support, she was able to work out that from 2 oclock to 5 oclock there was 3 hours by jumping up in one hour blocks.  It is important that Nicole be regularly asked what the time is.

Nicole, Jessie, Lucy and Hanna worked extremely well together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Nicole had to be re-focused several times when she was caught being inattentive!  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  They made 2 statements each and supported each other to add detail to these.  To finish they confidently made a computer graph.

Nicole did not give up when she build this 3D polyhedron.  She was able to count the vertices (corners) and the edges.  She counted 5 faces, but forgot the base which is also a face.  She struggled to see all of the angles that the shape has but can identify these in a 2D shape.

Nicole did really well with her symmetrical pattern (on the right).  She quickly worked out how to make her squares symmetrical.  She required a bit of support with her cat tessellating pattern, making the shape and connecting it together.

Tegan and Nicole made this 3D geometrical city model.  They firstly made a 2D plan.  The were able to build a range of different 3D shapes (cylinders, pyramids, rectangular prisms etc) and include some simple tessellation, symmetry and shop signage.  They worked extremely well together to complete this task.  They did an amazing job!

Gun danger power-point
Taine and Nicole worked very well together to make an amazing power-point on gun safety.  They researched their topic to get good clear information.  Their power-point was excellent.  Each page indicated a key point with an image.  Well done Taine and Nicole.  Just remember to check your work for errors!

5/7/16 Speech:  Here is a video of Nicole doing her speech.  She did a wonderful job with no cue cards what-so-ever!
