Lucy

Lucy easily calculated the multiplication fact of 18 groups of 3 plus the extra 4 stickers at the end to get a total of 58.  She found this complex pattern easy to create.

Lucy is able to read analogue and digital times and she understands 24 hour time in the am and pm context.  Lucy was able to easily draw her own clock and indicate the 5 minute intervals in between numbers.  She is able to solve problems involving exact time and was able to explain how she was doing this by moving up in hour blocks.

Nicole, Jessie, Lucy and Hanna worked extremely well together to work out what food they have in their fridges.  Nicole had to be re-focused several times when she was caught being inattentive!  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  The size of the strips (i.e. carrots) helped them to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and found that they were learning and seeing new things.  They made 2 statements each and supported each other to add detail to these.  To finish they confidently made a computer graph.

Bre and Lucy were able to successfully build a range of 3D shapes.  They could count the faces, edges and vertices (corners) of their shapes.  They learnt where the angles are on the shape and how to count them.  Great geometry girls.

Lucy was able to complete these patterning activities.  She was able to make a reflectional symmetry pattern and a tessellating bird pattern.  Her next step is to make sure that the colour is all in the right place in conjunction with the pattern.

Lucy and Bre's Powerpoint on Stranger Danger!

Lucy and Bre spent time researching and creating a power point for members of their class to help them understand 'Stranger Danger'.  They worked together to create a great slide show with useful information.  They learnt how to insert a video into their slides.  They presented it well to the class and realised how important it is to look at your audience when presenting and to check your work for any editing or spelling errors.  Well done girls!

Hanna and Lucy worked well together to build this geometrical 3D city.  They worked and developed their work according to the criteria given.  They started with a 2D plan and then went on to create their city in a 3D format.  The paid special attention to signage and decoration of their city, which is important.  They worked extremely well together.  Congratulations girls, your city looks great and you can work independently.

30/6/16  Lucy wrote her own speech about gymnastics.  Here is a short clip of her speech.
