Ben dJ

Ben calculated how many stickers he has in his pattern by work out the pink groups (4 lots of 4), the green groups (3 lots of 4) and the yellow groups (3 lots of 4) and then added 24+16 =40.  He specified that he had made sort of squares and found this easy to devise.

Ben is able to read most times on clocks using analogue and digital.  He can identify pm and am.  He can solve problems involving exact time using a number line.  He can be successful without a number line to help him but not always.

Ben W, Baden, Taine and Ben dJ worked together to find out what food they have in their fridges.  They had a bit of difficulty working together as a group and the teacher had to intervene several times to re-focus the boys.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  With support from the teacher they used the size of the strips (i.e. carrots) to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and were questioned about the difference  in statements from the strip graph to the pie graph.  To finish they confidently made a computer graph.

Ben successfully made this 3D polyhedron.  He was able to count up how many faces his shape has.  With support he was able to identify the edges, vertices (corners) and angles of the shape.

Ben found this activity difficult.  He couldn't seem to be able to draw a symmetrical design or be able to work out how to tessellate his cat shape and pattern.  With support he was able complete these designs but he requires more practice at this type of activity.

Road Safety Power-point
Ben and Baden made a fabulous presentation about road safety.  They worked together well.  The came up with some key information about how to be safe on the roads.  They planned well before they went onto their presentation.  Here is a copy of their power-point!  Well done Ben and Baden!

Taine and Ben worked on this geometrical 3D model.  As you can see their city is quite basic.   They have constructed some 3D models but have not really put a great deal of thought into roading within their city.  I can see the tessellation and symmetrical pattern that they were required to make.  A medium effort boys, but I know you are capable of much better.
