Baden

Baden could clearly see that he had 8 groups of 9 and one group of 12 but he found the multiplication part of this activity difficult.  He was able to design this complex pattern on his own.

Baden is able to read most analogue and digital times.  He understands 24 hour time, including am and pm within this.  He was able to draw a clock and successfully and knows that there is a 5 minute interval in between numbers.  He plotted his time correctly, with the hands in the right location.  He is able to solve time related problems and demonstrated his thinking by using a number line.

Ben W, Baden, Taine and Ben dJ worked together to find out what food they have in their fridges.  They had a bit of difficulty working together as a group and the teacher had to intervene several times to re-focus the boys.  Firstly they made a strip graph and then made statements about this graph.  They made a connection to fractions (because there was 4 in their group) and made statements like "3/4 people in the group like carrots".  After that they measured their strip graph into a circle and transformed this into a pie graph.  With support from the teacher they used the size of the strips (i.e. carrots) to measure their slice of pie.  They made more statements about their information off the pie graph and were questioned about the difference  in statements from the strip graph to the pie graph.  To finish they confidently made a computer graph.

Baden made a complicated 3D shape and he made this triangular prism.  He was able to identify how many faces, edges and vertices (corners) his prism had.  He learnt how to calculate how many angles were in his prism.

Baden enjoyed the geometrical learning.  As you can see he made a tessellating bird pattern and fancy reflective symmetrical shape.  He achieved this well.  Great work Baden.

Road Safety Power-point
Ben and Baden made a fabulous presentation about road safety.  They worked together well.  The came up with some key information about how to be safe on the roads.  They planned well before they went onto their presentation.  Here is a copy of their power-point!  Well done Ben and Baden!

Neela and Baden made this 3D geometrical city model.  They firstly made a 2D plan.  The were able to build a range of different 3D shapes (cylinders, pyramids, rectangular prisms etc) and include some simple tessellation, symmetry and shop signage.  They worked extremely well together with very little teacher input after a small disagreement at the beginning (which they worked through).  They did an amazing job!

5/7/16  Speech:  Here is Baden's speech about Minecraft.
