Anzac Day celebrations
On the last day of the term we took some time to celebrate Anzac Day, which falls in the school holidays this year.
We made poppies...
We made Anzac slice...
We visited the Cenotaph with Room 4....
Room 4 made a wreath and they placed it at the Cenotaph.
Here is Room 8 placing their poppies at the Cenotaph....
We looked around the Cenotaph and many children found their surnames.... They wondered if they were related to these brave soldiers who died in the war...
Tanika and Pyper showed respect by picking up rubbish around the Cenotaph...

Wastenet competition
We entered in a competition for Wastenet where we had to make a superhero out of rubbish and write a description about it. We worked in pairs and here are the photos of our creations. It would be great to win a prize! Amazing work Room 8!

First Aid
On Thursday the 17th of March Room 8 had a visit from Jo (From St Johns). We were lucky enough to have Jo teach a range of first aid techniques that can help to save lives. It was a fabulous learning session which is part of our 'safety' thinking for Term 1.
Here is what we learnt...
DRSABCD
Danger - Check dangers, always put yourself first, even over the patient.
Response - What is your patient doing?
Send for help - 111, others or AED (defibrillator)
Airway - Is this clear
Breathing - Check
CPR
Defibrillator - Should have arrived if it has been sent for
We also learnt how to put people in the recovery position if they were still breathing, but needed some help.
Learning to bandage was also worthwhile. We learnt some great first aid skills from Jo at St Johns.

We learnt to go through DRSABCD on our patients. When we got to C, we practiced CPR on a dummy. We learnt that you need 30 pumps of the heart and 2 breaths and that the song "Row, row, row your boat sung twice is how many pumps to do".
